The History about San Gennaro -
Votive Offering:
Worshippers would pin dollar bills to the ribbons hanging from the statue, as a gesture of thanks for answered prayers, surviving hard times, or seeking a blessing for the coming year.
Supporting the Community
It started on Mulberry Street in New York City's, Little Italy in 1926 by Neapolitan immigrants, the collected money originally helped poorer families, and neighbors in need, and today helps support the church, and the festival.
Preserving Heritage:
For Immigrants who arrived with very little, pinning money openly, in the street was a way to show that their faith, culture, and traditions survived the ocean Crossing.
100 Years Later, the Ladies of Liado keep this tradition alive, and use the monies collected to help those in our community - Be sure to bring your money to our Nonna's Dinner- any denomination that you can share, and pin your thank you, or ask for a blessing that you are seeking - LIVE the TRADITION. ABOUT US
Welcome to LIADO "Where Guests Come As Strangers and Leave As Friends"
LIADO, The Italian-American Women of Today, was founded on April 29, 1993, with a charter membership of 29 Italian-American women, to promote a positive and realistic image of Italians and Italian-Americans, as well as to preserve our Italian Heritage, traditions and values.
Today we have an active membership of over 75 women, who celebrate these traditions through our social and cultural programs and fundraising activities.
Our mission is to assist students in achieving their goals of higher education through the LIADO Scholarship Program, and provide financial assistance to several charitable organizations, in our community. By joining LIADO is to reaffirm and rediscover your Italian heritage. We are the only one hundred percent Italian women's organization of its kind, in the State of Florida.
Spend an evening with us; filled with culture, connection, and celebration! Keep cherished traditions alive, deepen your appreciation of Italy and your Italian heritage, and enjoy delicious treats all while sharing laughter and creating wonderful memories. Together, we can continue LIADO’s mission of making a meaningful difference in our community.
MEETING INFORMATION
Our meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at:
St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church

Doors Open at 5:30 pm, we suggest you come early, for fellowship time, so that we can promptly start the meeting at 6 p.m.
Meetings are open to all members and prospective members.

Membership is open to all women 18 years and older, with Italian ancestry.
Annual Dues are payable to LIADO, by March 1st of each year.
